In 2011, the year of the Scholarships’ 10th anniversary, it was decided that the remit of the Clarendon Fund would be expanded to include all nationalities. From 1 September 2011, all graduate applicants to degree-bearing courses are eligible for this prestigious scholarship funding which was, up until this point, only open to candidates with overseas fee status.
Clarendon Scholarships are awarded on the basis of outstanding academic merit and potential to graduate students from all around the world. Scholarships are tenable in all subject areas and open to candidates who will be starting a new course. All applicants for graduate study at the University of Oxford are eligible. Clarendon scholars come from all continents in the world: from the USA to Australia, Venezuela to Vietnam and from Norway to Nigeria!
Deadline for Application:
All scholars must complete an annual scholarship report, in which you give us a description of your academic and extra-curricular activities that year. We will also ask you to give us an update on your funding situation, as it is a condition of the scholarship that if you receive external funding, the amount of your scholarship may be adjusted. Information about how to complete the report will be sent to you by email in June.
Level of Studies:
This encompasses all full-time and part-time Master’s courses (MSt, MSc, BCL/MJur, MBA, MFE, MPhil, BPhil, MSc by Research, MTh, MPP) and all DPhil programmes. A list of all the graduate courses offered by the University of Oxford can be found on the Graduate Course Guide. Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma courses are not eligible for this scholarship.
University fees cover your tuition fees in full. College fees are for the provision of academic and social facilities and do not include accommodation or meal charges. University and college fees do not include additional training courses or laboratory/fieldwork costs.
By applying for graduate study at Oxford University (Application Form for Graduate Study) you will automatically be considered for a Clarendon Scholarship. You do not need to submit any additional documents specifically for the Clarendon Scholarships and there is no separate scholarship application form. You do, however, need to apply by the January application deadline in order to be considered for the scholarship (the September deadline for applicants to the EMBA course).
