Energy and Fuels Research Unit (EFRU) Scholarships – University of Auckland

Scholarship Description:

The Scholarships were established in 1994 and are financed by the commercial activity of the Unit.
The main purpose of the Scholarships is to encourage research into sustainable and efficient thermal processes in New Zealand.

Scholarship Eligibility:

  • The Scholarships shall be awarded to Masters or PhD candidates who are enrolled full-time and who have paid the fees, or arranged to pay the fees, in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at The University of Auckland. The applicants should hold an Honours Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or Physical Sciences. The basis of selection shall be academic merit and ability to pursue research in the designated area.
  • Holders of a Scholarship must undertake research in an area of the research domain of the Thermodynamics Laboratory and approved by its Management Group.

Additional Information:

  • The Council shall not be bound to make an award in any given year should there be no candidates of sufficient merit.
  • The Council shall have the power to terminate or suspend Scholarship payments if, in respect of any EFRU Scholar, it receives an unsatisfactory report from the Director of the Energy and Fuels Research Unit.
  • In consultation with the Energy and Fuels Research Unit, the Council shall have power to amend or vary these Regulations provided that there is no departure from the main purpose of the Scholarships.
